This is the first time where sharks and jellyfish appear, even though in The Great Animal Crown, Blaze turned into a shark, and in Snow Day Showdown, Crusher unleashed his snow sharks.
This is the first time AJ's skin other than his head is visible; his arms are shown when he wears his lifeguard gear.
AJ does not use his Visor View to locate the pirate, instead he uses binoculars.
Before going to search for the baby whale, Blaze says, "Don't worry, whales!" twice, both of which are said before and after transforming.
Running Gags[]
Crusher tries to rescue Pickle from the pretend waves, but keeps throwing the lifeguard ring too far and catches something else.
Allusions[]
Sink or Float is the new STEM Concept, which is similar to Blue's Clues and Blue's Clues and You from the episodes "Blue Goes to the Beach", "What Experiment Does Blue Want to Try?", "Science with Blue", and "Blue's Beach Bonanza" when Steve, Josh, and Blue did the same thing.
Goofs[]
Most of the lifeguard duties in the episode are non-realistic, specifically Blaze saving people from falling in the water on kites, stopping a pirate ship from sinking, and rescuing a baby whale from underwater. A real lifeguard guard's duty is saving people from drowning or getting pulled out to sea, which is what Blaze and the lifeguards did at the beginning of the episode.
