The game Mud Mountain Rescue is based on this episode.

When Blaze says "Go for it, AJ!" and AJ swings out of the crab warehouse, right when Blaze finishes talking you can see his eyes get bigger. This is a common feature in anime series.

Crusher crashing into things with the rocket skis.
Allusions[]
The plot is very similar to that of the short "Meet Dusty" from the DisneyToon film Planes:
Crusher gives himself something that makes him go extremely faster, launching off out the race but can't stop until the ending. In the story, Chug accidentally puts the wrong fuel in Dusty. But before Chug can warn him, Dusty spontaneously launches off into the air.
The trucks eating a piece of spaghetti from either end until it breaks mimics the famous "spaghetti kiss" scene from Lady and the Tramp.
Bump's line "Crusher has left the building!" is similar to the announcer's line "Elvis has left the building!" at Elvis Presley concerts.
Goofs[]
When Blaze says "Knit like the wind!", his mouth doesn't move.
For some strange reason, Blaze and Crusher either didn't get to finish the race, nor only finish it offscreen. Though it’s possible that they forfeited due to leaving in the middle of it or the race has ended already.
In the travel song, the captions listed “Sing it loud!” as “Sing along!”
